Q. How do I get a DEBIT card?

A. Existing Members:  Simply call into any of our branches with your passport or driving licence and a utility bill (dated in the last 3 months) and we will do the rest.  Members must be 16 years or over to apply for the DEBIT card.

New Members:  Assuming you are eligible to apply for membership to Bishopstown Credit Union, simply call to one of our branches with:

• your valid passport or driving licence,
• a utility bill dated in the last 3 months and
• proof of your PPSN (e.g. P60, wageslip etc.)

We will do the rest. 

Please note: If you are studying or working in the area, and do not reside within our common bond, you must also provide us with proof that you are working or studying in the area, such as an ID card.

Q. Is it true that I dont pay any booking fee, if I use the DEBIT card to book flights on www.ryanair.com?

A.  Yes.  Simply select Prepaid MasterCard option from the drop-down menu of payment options.  This will remain as long as Ryanair run this promotional offer for all prepaid MasterCard cards.  We are the only Irish providers of a FREE Prepaid MasterCard. 

Q. Where does the DEBIT card work?

A. The Bishopstown Credit Union DEBIT card is a unique product that is accepted anywhere the MasterCard brand is displayed - at over 26 million locations worldwide.  This includes online, in-store and ATM transactions.

Q.  Is it a DEBIT card or a Prepaid MasterCard?

A.  As a Prepaid MasterCard, it operates as a DEBIT card.  There are no bills as it operates directly from your LINK account.

Q. How does it work?

A. The DEBIT card uses the latest CHIP and PIN technology which means you, the member, receive your DEBIT card and a 4-digit PIN (Personal Identification Number). Each time the DEBIT card is used you will receive a text message to your mobile phone, thus ensuring the safety of your card and each transaction.

Q. I have an ATM card. Why should I get a Bishopstown DEBIT card?

A. Bishopstown Credit Union's DEBIT card offers you flexibility and security, at no cost to the member.
