Heading to college in 2010? Do you want to be in with a chance to win a €4,500 third-level scholarship?

Bishopstown Credit Union is delighted to announce that 2010 will see €9,000 worth of third-level scholarships presented to members.  Two l;ucky members of Bishopstown Credit Union will win scholarships worth €4,500 each.

Members commencing their third-level education this year should fill out the application form and drop it to any of the 3 branches - Wilton Road, Curraheen Road and Wilton Shopping Centre.

Please make sure you include proof of the course you are undertaking to ensure you are entered into the draw.  The closing date for applications is September 30th and the draw will take place in October.  This draw is open to those members who are entering third-level for the first time in 2010.

3 Useful tips for those heading to College in 2010

  1. Get a Bishopstown Credit Union debit card. Each time it is used, you receive a text alert so you always know how much money you have left in your account.
  2. Save a little. Put a little by every week and who knows it could pay for your J1 next year.

Personal Finance Made Easy is the apt title for the new series of brochures launched by Bishopstown Credit Union. Coinciding with the first day of spring, this series marks a new beginning for members who wish to get a better understanding of their finances. The brochures cover a range of areas from ‘Junior Savers’ to ‘Managing your Money’ to ‘Accessing your account online’. Published without the financial jargon, this series was introduced to save members time by making personal finance topics more easily understood.

Speaking at the announcement of the series, Bishopstown Credit Union’s Sinead Dunne stated: “This straightforward series of brochures covers a number of topics. It will enable members to access concise information in relation to the topics that are of interest to them such as accessing their accounts via our website – www.bishopstowncu.ie. We endeavour to satisfy the needs of our members and thus far, we have introduced a LINK account and debit card so that members can use Bishopstown Credit Union for all their day-to-day personal finance needs, regardless of location.”

This announcement continues the fresh approach Bishopstown Credit Union has taken towards everyday personal finance following the launch of Ireland’s first worldwide debit card. Bishopstown Credit Union is encouraging members to spring into action and to become aware of their finances. This series will certainly help members cut through the jargon and make following their personal finances easy.

This saves our members €5 per person per flight. This is a substantial saving for our members, many of whom have already availed of the agreement which Ryanair and MasterCard have recently entered into.

To avail of this you must book the flight with your Bishopstown Credit Union DEBIT card. Proceed as normal with your booking and select Pre-paid MasterCard as the payment option from the drop-down menu. The Poster Competition for 2009 has drawn to a close and the winners have been notified.  We would like to thank everyone who took the time to enter.  As always, the standard was very high.  We have some very talented artists in our midst.

AGM date announced

Bishopstown Credit Union's AGM will be held on December 3rd next at 7.30 p.m.

The AGM will be held in the SMA Hall, Wilton.

Bishopstown Senior Social Centre

Sponsorship from Bishopstown Credit Union has enabled the local Senior Citizens remain active and go on trips and excursions. This sponsorship funds the Bishopstown Senior Social Centre bus for the senior members of the community. This is a great organisation that serves the community in a positive light. Sinead Dunne, Business Development Officer, Bishopstown Credit Union, remarked on the fantastic facility, “The Senior Citizens of the Bishopstown area have a wonderful facility on their doorstep and Bishopstown Credit Union are delighted to assist the centre in maintaining and improving the services on offer.”

 


Reaching new heights with Bishopstown Credit Union’s DEBIT card

Bishopstown Credit Union is delighted to help two local basketball players fulfil their dreams of playing for their country in the US.  The only two players picked from the Cork area, Paul Harrison and Barry Denieffe of Bishopstown were thrilled to be picked as part of the U-18 Men’s squad.  They were also delighted with the DEBIT CARD sponsorship they received from Bishopstown Credit Union recently.  Travelling to the United States, the sportsmen need to be able to access their funds while abroad.  Bishopstown Credit Union’s DEBIT CARD enables them to do this.
