The granting of a loan is also dependant on the member’s individual capacity to meet the proposed repayments. Providing loans for Members is one of our main functions. Here at Bishopstown Credit Union, loans are provided on reasonable terms to Members, ensuring that money is injected back into the local area for the benefit of Members and the community as a whole.
First-time lenders can avail of 6% (6.2% APR) loans (when repayments are made electronically ).

Applications for loans are made on a standard loan application form. Loans can be applied for over the phone on 1850 924 890 or by calling to any one of our offices (Wilton Road, Wilton Shopping Centre).
Our staff will give you any assistance required and can speak with you in private. Loans will then be considered by a Loan Officer, or will go to the weekly Credit Committee meeting.

Members will be asked to provide Bishopstown Credit Union with a recent payslip, current account statements or further documentation to help support loan applications. Bishopstown Credit Union Ltd. is a member of Irish Credit Bureau (I.C.B.) who perform credit checks on Members. This is standard practice and we appreciate your cooperation in this matter.
In deciding whether or not to grant your loan, the loan officer or credit committee will take into account the following:
Once the loan is granted, you will be asked to sign a legally binding document being a promise to repay the loan, and to commit to regular repayments. You will then receive your loan, in the form of a cheque, electronic transfer or a lodgement to your LINK account.
Please remember: Only Bishopstown Credit Union Members are eligible to receive loans from Bishopstown Credit Union.
You will be contacted once a decision has been made. If you are not successful, you may ask the loans officer for a reason. Bishopstown Credit Union does not encourage Members to borrow beyond their means. Instead, the focus is on managing your finances.
