Supporting Bishopstown Senior Social Centre

13 August, 2021

As part of our Community Development Fund, we were delighted to present Bishopstown Senior Social Centre with a cheque for €5000 towards a new kitchen in Wilton Park House.  Bishopstown Senior Social Centre is an integral service to many senior residents within the area. The centre enhances their lives by providing opportunities for them to meet, socialize and engage in activities such as music, dancing, and mobile phone coaching, which has been beneficial during recent times to help members stay connected with family and friends.

The kitchen is at the heart of the centre, where all daily activities end with tea, refreshments, and a chat. Sadly, for some members this is the only form of engagement they experience, therefore making this a fundamental amenity. Unfortunately, the kitchen is outdated and is no longer fit for purpose and as part of our Community Development fund we were delighted to sponsor this initiative to enable them to purchase a new modern kitchen that will provide many a cup of tea and a chat to residents for years to come.

Board member Marion Murphy from Bishopstown Credit Union’s Community Development Committee and Bishopstown Credit Union CEO Philip Hosford were on hand in Wilton Park House to present the cheque to Roger Coughlan, Co- Ordinator of Bishopstown Senior Social Centre.  For more information on the centre and some of the great initiatives they run such as a Men’s Shed log onto www.bishopstownseniors.com

The Community Development Fund offers support to a variety of community activities- from local schools, education initiatives, community groups and sports clubs. If you would like to apply for sponsorship for your organistation please email sponsorship@bishopstowncu.ie
